Mummy's Day 2013

Yesterday morning Daniel and I drove in the fog down to the St. Peter's canal to see if there were any lobster to be found; meanwhile, Cheryl chauffeused Mummy to the Riviera for an afternoon Mother's Day celebration.

No luck with the lobster at the canal - the fog was so thick that only one boat had gone out and who knew when it would return. So, we decided to try Lobsters R Us down the shoreline in Little Harbour, where we scored 12 lbs of tasty crustaceans and had a chat with Colin.

Back home, Daniel worked his magic cooking the lobster (Pictou recipe) and Cheryl and I took Mummy down to the Greenhouse Co-op in St. Peter's (no website, but a great article on the place here) to spend her gift certificate on flowers, tomatoes, and seeds. This year we broke from the Mother's Day trip to Antigonish tradition after finding out that Mummy's favourite restaurant, the Dragonfly, had closed. However, the local greenhouse had a great selection of plants, and the grub chez nous - lobster and key lime cheesecake - was top drawer.

Cheesecake!
Sammy gave me this cute little lime tree for Mother's Day! She must have heard me musing about how nice it would be to have a steady supply of limes for G&Ts. It already has two tiny fruit growing on it, and I will have to re-pot it soon.
