Sailing + Chocolate Cake

Things I accomplished on Friday:
  1. Took a shower
  2. Went sailing

Cheryl, Brian, and David arrived from Halifax on Friday evening, and Dave Campbell is back in town. So far we have sung some songs, gone biking, played tennis, eaten tacos, and had some interesting conversations between computer and board games (theirs).

The boys I was sailing with on Friday were wondering if there was anything better than sailing; I secretly thought to myself: maybe ... chocolate?

and then, magically, Cheryl baked a chocolate cake
What follows is the best chocolate cake / butter-cream icing recipe in the whole world. And the cake is mixed up all in one bowl - none of that cream butter, sugar, eggs in one bowl while sifting dry ingredients in another and then combining; just toss everything in one bowl and give it a stir. Fewer bowls to wash is good by me. The recipe makes great cupcakes too - just don't bake them for as long.

Black Magic Cake
Buttercream Frosting (also from Hershey's)
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2-2/3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa or HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Beat butter in medium bowl. Add powdered sugar and cocoa alternately with milk, beating to spreading consistency (additional milk may be needed). Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

That's it for now. Going surfing in the a.m. then off to the Strawberry Festival at the Channel Hall. And I will probably have another piece of chocolate cake for breakfast.
