Germany 4 - Greece 1

The weekend started with a visit from Roger Vallis, Daniel's friend from waaaaaaaaaay back. Roger can climb walls, hypnotize you, assemble bumper cars, and knows every magic trick in the book. Come back soon, Roger!

On Saturday, Ana's German twinfriends were also visiting and joined us for Chicken Souvlaki Gyros (a fitting tribute to  Germany's 4-1 victory over Greece in the Euro Cup last week).

While Daniel suavely invented his own chicken marinade recipe (olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, sugar, oregano, salt, pepper), I pretty much found the recipe for the accompanying Greek Salad on the Epicurious website.

Later that evening a card game broke out our friends' house across the Riviera. I rode El Tigre over just to balance out the big gyro I ate. We took turns playing our favourite songs from YouTube, talked a little work and sailing, drank a few cranberries, and made plans for this summer's Big Beef BBQ. Daniel singed his arm hair grilling shrimp on their barbie, but still managed to raise a glass of cranberry juice.

who needs all that arm hair anyway?
And after all that, what could be more fun than jiggly poached eggs for breakfast this morning made with fresh eggs from our chicken cooperative on ham on toast topped with Cholula, cheese, and herbs from the garden? Not much.
