It's May 1st and the April showers have dried up, so here it is:
More Backyard / Less Kitchen!
The Captain of the Gravy Boat went back to work today, so the view from the kitchen won't be as decadent for the next two weeks anyway - mostly smoothies, salads, veggie-tofu stir-fries, and President's Choice Blue Menu frozen pizzas (my favourite is Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese).
Luckily, the view from the backyard makes up for the lack of action in the kitchen. This was the scene this morning when Sammy and I went for a short walk on the Riviera:

Southwest
After work, we went for a longer walk. It was still a lovely day - not even a sign of the ever-present fog bank lingering over L'Ardoise.
Sammy (hates posing, would rather be walking)
As we were having dinner (can't resist one small food shot) ...
Chicken Tostado
... a visitor was having dinner in the backyard!
At least it wasn't Ms. Fox having dinner again in the backyard.
On that note, the remaining three hens seem to be recuperating. For a few days after the Chicken Massacre, it didn't look so good for a couple of them - they weren't eating, couldn't walk, and were generally depressed. However, now they are back on their feet, brave enough to venture out into their pen once more (which Daniel reinforced with extra chicken wire) and have even laid a couple of eggs.
Anyway, Cute Deer stuck around for a long time, munching grass. I wish she would eat the whole lawn, then I wouldn't have to mow ... just stay out of the "vineyard"! Finally, I had to open the door to retrieve my yoga mat from the deck because I was already going to be late for class, and C.D. ran off into the bushes, white tail a-bouncing.
